 Karin Korb’s motto is: “Live to train; train to live” and her list of accomplishments proves it. In addition to ranking #1 in Women’s Open in the United States, Karin ranks No. 9th in the world, but her training achievements don’t stop at wheelchair tennis. Karin, who was injured in a gymnastics vaulting accident, also has a passion for bodybuilding.

In fact, she was the champion of the first-ever women’s wheelchair bodybuilding competition held by the National Physique Committee. She was 27 years of age before ever picking up a tennis racket! She has competed on 7 USA World Teams, which boasts the top 4 women in the country!

Born in America, but growing up in Germany, Karin moved back to the states when she was ten years old. She speaks German and Spanish fluently and is a certified fitness trainer and model. She is employed by the Blaze Sports Clubs of America as a physical conditioning and sports instructor. Karin teaches all junior wheelchair sports, ranging from basketball to tennis to rugby to kayaking.

She received a bachelor’s in Political Science from Kean University and most recently her master’s at Georgia State University in Sports Management, where she was the first female with a disability to receive a Division I athletic scholarship to play collegiate wheelchair tennis. There are currently eleven universities with similar programs.

Karin holds a Vice-Chairman position on the USTA National Committee and continues to assist the USTA with media, publicity and public relations activities. She is currently featured in the book “SuperWomen”, 100 Women, 100 Sports” authored by Jodi Buren. Karin is the lofty number 89!
Her current and primary sights are on the podium in Athens, Greece, where she plans on winning the Gold medal, placing her hand on her heart and singing the “Star Spangled Banner” for the entire world to hear!
