Friends For Michael travels to Indianapolis for the Annual Sam Schmidt Paralysis Foundation Indy 500 Racing for Cure Dinner.
(Many of the IRL drivers are roaming around and available for autographs)
This year will celebrate the 6th annual ‘Racing to Recovery’ Gala to be held on Monday, May 16th at Eddie Merlot’s Restaurant located at 3645 East 96th Street in Indianapolis. Once again, many IRL drivers will be in attendance, mingling with the crowd and signing autographs.
It is an informal evening with a strolling buffet, bar/martini stations and silent and live auctions. The auction items include autographed racing memorabilia, vacations, jewelry and lots of surprises. One of the highlights of the evening is the actual creation of an original work of art by noted motorsports artist, Bill Patterson. When finished, the 7 foot by 5 foot acrylic painting will be auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Since its inception, the Racing to Recovery Gala raised over $1 million to fund spinal cord injury research and support the Foundation’s quality of life program, ‘Day at the Races’.
Michael Andretti will be presented with the Legendary Driver Award
