» A Series of Community Discussions About Healthcare and Disabilities in Kentucky

The Center for Accessible Living was awarded a grant from the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky to identify the top 5 unmet healthcare needs of Kentuckians with disabilities.  We need and want input from across the state from as many Kentuckians with Disabilities as possible.  To accomplish this, we will be holding forums across the state where consumers can give us input into the barriers and situations they face in their community.  Surveys will also be utilized to gather additional information.
» 12th Annual Ms. Wheelchair Kentucky Pageant

The Ms. Wheelchair Kentucky Organization is proud to sponsor the 12th Annual Ms. Wheelchair Kentucky Pageant. Contestants must be female, U.S Citizens between the ages of 21-60; must utilize wheelchairs for
all their mobility outside of their homes, must be capable and willing to advocate for the disability community within the state of Kentucky.

» The Larosa Loop Ride and Walk

Who:    The "Larosa Loop Bicycle Ride and Walk" hosted by Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation.

What:     The Larosa Loop Bicycle Ride and Walk to honor the memory of Physiatrist Dr. Ethel Larosa-Klemens who lost her battle with cancer at the young age of 37. The event raises funds for a scholarship for a female medical student at the University of Louisville School of Medicine; and an annual pediatric rehabilitation lectureship for residents and practicing physicians. Both the scholarship and lectureship are given in Dr. Larosa’s name.

is hosting its 2nd annual 5K Run, Walk, or Roll
on Saturday, June 28, 2008.


We greatly appreciate the support we received last year and would again like to thank everyone who participated. This year we are aiming for an even larger turn-out.

We are working with our friends at Frazier Rehab, Jewish Hospital and University of Louisville to pull together Team members and volunteers. It will be an exciting and inspirational journey for all as we gear up for the race - April 26, 2008!
